It happens very often that our children throw tantrums or behave inappropriately. We as parents get angry and say “go to your room, and do not come out until I tell you so.” or we adopt other punishments.
However, these measures don’t work to help children manage their emotions positively, because states of mind tend to cloud reasoning, which may lead them to behave negatively and do things like screaming, crying, banging on stuff, or even harming themselves. We encourage you to create a safe calming space to control tantrums.
The benefits of this technique include the self emotional regulation, self perception and respect to others which helps them develop a more assertive language allowing for a better articulation of phrases and positive emotions, not tampered by frustration.
What elements should compose the space for relaxation?
It is advised to include a rug and a cushion. The idea is for it to be comfortable. To do so, you will need some essentials to bring your child to a calm state, such as their favorite toy. It is also suggested to include a soothing smell like the one lavender radiates, and music that appeases body relaxation.
Our Fur Buddies are quintessential to be part of your space for relaxation, as they provide enough warmth to soothe muscles, relax, or fall asleep.
